Himos Holiday Centre is the most significant tourist destination of Jämsä offering plenty of speed and action all year round. Himos became famous for its downhill skiing centre of Ski Centre Himosvuori, which has the biggest and most comprehensive slopes of Southern and Central Finland. For years Himos has been one of the most popular tourist resorts of Finland.

Besides downhill skiing and snowboarding, Himos offersa wide variety of activities and events all year round. Cross-country skiing, tour skating, ice swimming, snowmobile rides, husky rides, quad bike rides, Nordic walking, canoeing, adventure high-ropes trail and fishing trips are only a few of the many activities in Himos. And the region offers even more possibilities: in Jämsä we have, for instance, two husky farms, a canoeing route of 75 km, and the largest paintball fields of Finland.

The largest events of the region, Paintball Big Game and FinnMETKO machinery exhibition are also widely seen at Himos, when the hundreds of cottages are filled with the participants and additional events delight the people. Himos Arena Nightclub entertains the visitors with the top Finnish artists and an excellent dance floor. HimosTheatre performs funny and touching performances in covered summer theatre.

Himos is located right besides the centre of Jämsä, meaning that all the services of Jämsä city are within a five minutes drive (8 km). To fulfil your Himos holiday, Jämsä region offers you a swimming hall, ice halls, a bowling alley, fitness centres, a movie theatre, amateur theatres, art galleries, museums, concerts, good restaurants, and several interesting special shops, factory outlets, and variable markets. Tampere and Jyväskylä are not far either.

The nature lovers will move with the breath taking sceneries of Lake Päijänne, the Wanha Witonen canoeing route, magnificent nature destinations, and the untouched nature of Isojärvi National Park.
